This small group of individuals from across the province of Québec set out to discover the
history and the origins of the Terrien, Thérien and Therrien families. After all these years, the board is still made up of ten members and even though most of the names have changed their passion remains unchanged.

There several ways to write the name of our ancestors such as Terrien, Therrien, Thérien, Taylor, Farmer, Pharmer and Lander. Although the name of Therrien is the most encountered spelling today, the Association has chosen the name of Terrien, in reference to the Ancestors, in the name of the Association of the ” Ralliement des Familles Jean et Pierre Terrien “, and was thus incorporated under the laws of Québec. The association aims to bring together all descendants of the ancestors, no matter how they write their names.

The 1995 reunion at Ile d’Orléans emphasized the 325th wedding anniversary of the ancestor Pierre Terrien and Gabrielle Mignot with the unveiling of a memorial plaque on the very farm that Pierre once owned. This gesture signals that our ancestors also helped structure the rich history of Ile d’Orléans. Two years later at the 1997 reunion at Trois-Rivières, the group underlined the 330th wedding anniversary of the ancestor Jean Terrien and Judith Rigault, with a Catholic mass and unveiling of a memorial plaque.

Our association is a member of the “Fédération des familles souches du Québec“.
