Pierre Terrien and Gabrielle Mineau

Pierre Terrien and Gabrielle Mineau children were the first of this family to be born in New France. They are the second generation of Terrien ancestors.

Pierre Terrien married Gabrielle Mineau in the parish of Sainte-Famille, Île d’Orléans on May 17, 1670. Following their marriage, the first two children are born in Île-aux-Grues while the other twelve are born in the parish of Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans.

Second generation

Pierre Terrien

He was born in Île-aux-Grues on September 28, 1672. Pierre Michaud and Jacqueline Boulay were godfather and godmother. The Act is entered in the register of the parish of Notre-Dame de Québec on April 8th.

On November 6, 1693, in presence of the notary Louis Chambalon, Pierre contracts marriage with Jeanne Duchiron, daughter of deceased Mathurin Duchiron dit Deslauriers and Marguerite Roussel. Their wedding was held in the church Notre-Dame de Québec on November 29. After their marriage they lived in Saint-Jean on the island of Île d’Orléans, where their three children were born.

Louis Terrien

Louis was born in Île-aux-Grues on February 8, 1674. Pierre Bécart sieur de Grandville, Lord of the island, and Geneviève Couillard his wife were godfather and godmother. The Act of baptism is also listed on the register of the parish of Notre-Dame de Québec on April 8.

On April 20, 1700, at the Church of Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans, he married Catherine Bidet, daughter of Jacques Bidet dit Desroussels and Françoise Desfossés. After their marriage, they settled in Saint-Michel de La Durantaye (Bellechasse) where their four children are born.

Jeanne Terrien

She was born at Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on 13 March 1676 and was baptized the same day in the parish of Sainte-Famille. Given that the page of the Act is damaged, only the first name of the godfather is readable. It is Gabriel (probably Thibierge), the godmother was Jeanne Caillé, grandmother of the child. Jeanne died and was buried in Saint-Jean on 20 November 1689, at the age of 13 years and 8 months.

André Terrien

André was born in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on 23 May 1678 and was baptized in Sainte-Famille on May 29. André Bernard and Anne Langlois, wife of René Cochon dit Laverdière were godfather and godmother.

On August 28, 1701, in presence of the notary Michel Lepailleur de LaFerté, André contracts marriage with Marguerite Prévost (Provost) widow of Martin Poisson. This contract has not been effective. By summer 1710, probably in Saint-Jean (the act of marriage has not been found) André married Marie Catherine Charland, daughter of Denis Charland dit Francoeur and Mary Gauthier. After their marriage they settled in Saint-Jean where are born their sixteen children.

Jean-Baptiste Terrien

The birth act of Jean-Baptiste was not found, but the civil registry indicates that he was born and was baptized on February 10, 1680, in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans. No mention is made of his godparents.

His last appearance is on February 21, 1709, when in presence of the notary François Genaple de Bellefonds, he conducts a transaction with his brother Ignace. Jean-Baptiste was then living in the Nicolet river and he was 29 years old. Everything indicates that he was single. No other information was found about him.

Ignace Terrien

He was born in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on January 24, 1682 and was baptized in the parish on February 1st. Nicolas Audet dit Lapointe, a neighbour, and Marie Mineau aunt of the child were godfather and godmother.

On November 22, 1706, in presence of the notary Louis Chambalon, Ignace contracted marriage with Anne Cochon, daughter of René Cochon dit Laverdière. The marriage was held in the parish of Saint-Jean on November 25. Two children were born of this union. His wife dies around 1709 and shortly after, Ignace married Marguerite Plante, daughter of Thomas Plante and Marthe Paillereau. The marriage took place in the parish of Saint-Jean. From this union were born twelve children who’s first born August 11, 1710.

Augustin Terrien

Augustin was born in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on October 19, 1683 and was baptized in the parish on October 25. Jean Plante and Marie-Anne le Valet wife of Pierre Mourier was godfather and godmother. Augustin died and was buried on December 19.

Étienne Terrien

He was born and was baptized in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on October 28,1684. Etienne Fontaine and Anne Perrault, wife of Gabriel Thibierge were godparents. Étienne died and was buried on April 19, 1686.

Étienne Terrien

Étienne was born in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on September 21, 1686 and was baptized in this parish on the 29th. Georges Plante and Marguerite Provost, wife of Martin Poisson were godfather and godmother. Étienne died and was buried in Saint-Jean on June 13, 1715 at the age of 29 years.

Alexis Terrien

He was born on September 20, 1688 and baptized the next day on September 21. The godparents were Pierre Terrien and Marie Bidet. Alexis died and was buried on December 10, 1688.

Jeanne Terrien

Jeanne was born and was baptized in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on December 18, 1689. Jacques Labraut and Françoise Desfossés, widow of Jacques Bidet (the father) are godparents.

On October 10, 1712, at Saint-Jean, she married Jacques Greffard, son of Louis Greffard dit Lecoq and Louise Gauthier. She had contracted marriage a few days before in presence of the notary Paul Vachon. Three children were born of this union.

Guillaume Terrien

He was born and was baptized in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on January 20, 1692. Mathurin Dupas and his wife Jeanne Bidet were godfather and godmother. They were all residents of Saint-Jean.

On May 10, 1717 in the Church of Saint-Jean, Guillaume married Marie-Anne Jahan daughter of Jacques Jahan dit Laviolette and Jeanne Trépanier. After their marriage they settled in Saint-Jean where their eight children are born.

Barthélemy Terrien

Barthélemy was born on March 10, 1694 and was baptized the next day on March 11. His brother Louis was his godfather and Jeanne Ducheron, the wife of his brother Pierre, his godmother.

On November 29, 1721, at the church of Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans, Barthélemy married Marguerite Fontaine, widow of Joseph Pépin, daughter of Étienne Fontaine and Marie Conille. Six children were born of this union.

Jacques Terrien

He was born in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans on April 30, 1696, and was baptized the next day on May 1st.

On April 21, 1718, in presence of the notary Étienne Jacob, Jacques contracts marriage with Marie Peraut, daughter of deceased François Péraut (or Perreault) and Françoise Folleton, sometimes listed as Feuilleton. Their marriage was held in the parish of Ange-Gardien, Québec on April 27. Nine children were born of this union. After their marriage they lived in Ange-Gardien, Saint-François de l’île-Jésus, Lachenaie, Terrebonne and Montréal.
